Hand & Forearm Pain

Hand and forearm pain is becoming common for all ages. Video games, phones, computers, I pad, repetitive movements in our work, and sports activities create high demand on the tendons and muscles in our hands and forearms.

Prevention is the name of the game – “stretching” and other “counteractive” movement can ease your pain and discomfort. Most of us have heard the term “Peel back the Onion” The context for this saying when it comes to discomfort, pain, and injuries of the hand and forearm is that we have to understand what incasing the issue and consciously make changes to improve. For example, if you are right-handed and you notice sourness in your hand and fingers you need to evaluate your activities to try to understand the cause.

If your discomfort is due to excessive phone use, you must make changes, and make goals to use your hands less on your phone. Less texting, less video gaming, less web surfing, etc. You should also try to use your opposite hand to try to give your dominant hand a break. Recognizing an issue early on will always be an advantage – especially when it comes to your health.

The earlier you recognize a problem and begin to work on improving, the sooner you will heal and recover full strength. Low-intensity shockwave therapy is a very easy and proactive way to identify the root cause of your discomfort, soreness, pain, or injury. Very often you will find that if you have pain in your fingers or wrist, the cause is often related to strain in the ligaments in your forearm and may even be related to medial or lateral epicondylitis.
